30 Hour Famine Update

Just a shout out to everyone who participated in the 30 Hour Famine last week! You guys all did a fantastic job raising money, spreading awareness, exemplifying compassion, and just straight up being hungry! You guys raised over $7,000 which is above our initial goal! It is awesome to see God’s work being done through such great kids.

Good Friday Sacramento Plunge Reminder

Jesus died for us, confronting the brokenness of the world face-to-face. This Good Friday the high school-ers of Faith Pres have the opportunity to face the brokenness of Sacramento face-to-face as well. April 2nd (6am-8pm) the high school students will be serving at Loaves & Fishes, going to local homes, and participating in a contemplative service in remembrance of Jesus’ suffering. It only cost’s $5 and a day of your time. Compared to what Jesus paid, this is nothing! Talk to Pastor Quinn before March 14th if you want to be involved!

More than 1 billion people in the world don’t get enough to eat.

Each day, over 25,000 children under the age of 5 die from preventable diseases such as malnutrition, malaria, diarrhea, and acute respiratory infections.

143 million children (1 in every 3 children) under age 5 in the developing world are underweight because of poor nutrition.

In the last 50 years, 400 million people worldwide have died from hunger and poor sanitation. That’s three times the number of people killed in all wars fought in the entire 20th century.
Moderately underweight children are more than four times more likely to die from infectious disease than are well-nourished children. And under-nutrition contributes to 53 percent of deaths among children under 5 globally.
Countries in which a large portion of the population battles hunger daily are usually poor and often lack the social safety nets we enjoy, such as soup kitchens, food stamps, and job training programs. When a family that lives in a poor country cannot grow enough food or earn enough money to buy food, there is nowhere to turn for help.

Of the 6.6 billion people in today’s world, 2.1 billion live on less than $2 per day.

Check out this song by Future of Forestry. It is called Slow Your Breath Down. This is one of my favorite bands that I just came across this past year. They are out of San Diego and have kind of an Indie Rock Pop feel to them. This is a more mellow song but I love it because I think that this is what God is saying to us. To slow down and experience His presence in and around us. Life gets going so fast and sometimes we just need to slow down. “Be still and know that I am God Psalm” 46:10. Hey Crew-friends! I just wanted to remind you to come to Crew this Wednesday hungry! We will be having dinner AT Crew this week so make sure you bring your appetite. This week I will be speaking which should be all the more reason to make sure you’re there! We will be looking at Jesus’ sacrifice for us in different way. Also don’t forget to bring your consent forms if you haven’t already See you Wednesday!

Sign Up for 30 Hour Famine

Sign-up now for 30 Hour Famine. All you need is to get an envelope and then turn in your consent form. The dates are 2/26-2/27. You must have the consent form and church permission slip turned in by 2/17. In order to participate you must raise a total of at least $30 and have at least 5 sponsors.
